The Massachusetts State Archives is receiving a collection of 527 documents from the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 that were cared for by the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) for more than 40 years.The documents have been with the museum since 1980, according to the PEM.According to a release from the museum, on Jan. 12 the Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) of Massachusetts, along with the museum, began "the transfer of court documents from the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. PEM's Phillips Library has been the temporary repository of this collection of 527 documents since 1980.
